University of Nebraska-Lincoln Weather Camp visits 557th Weather Wing

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Weather Camp attendees visited the 557th Weather Wing where they received a mission-brief and toured the Space Weather Operations Center and High-Performance Computing Center at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. The Weather Camp is open to students entering grades 10 through 12 and is designed to give attendees insight into how scientists observe and forecast the weather as well as monitor the changing climate. The 557th Weather Wing is an Air Combat Command unit under 12th Air Force. It is the only weather wing in the U.S. Air Force and is comprised of more than 1,450 active duty, reserve, civilian and contract personnel. Its mission is to maximize America's power through the exploitation of timely, accurate and relevant weather information; anytime, everywhere.
