Air Force officials announce 2007 weather awards

Air Force officials have released the 2007 Air Force Weather Awards.

Military recipients of individual or team awards are entitled to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon, and civilian recipients of individual and team awards are entitled to wear the Air Force Recognition Lapel Pin.

The Air Force Recognition Ribbon program does not apply to organizational awards.

Individual award winners are:

-- Air Force Weather Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Tricia H. Kobberdahl from Fort Riley AIN, Kan.

-- Air Force Weather Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Paul D. Lucas from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

-- Air Force Weather Civilian of the Year: Mr. Todd M. McNamara from Patrick AFB, Fla.

-- Air Force Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Samuel T. Simmons from Whiteman AFB, Mo.

-- Air Force Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Bradford N. Godwin from Robbins AFB, Ga.

-- Air Force Weather Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Leon Keochanthanivong from Scott AFB, Ill.

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Jeffrey A Goddard Jr. from Fort Hood AIN, Texas

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Jason P. Colon from Pope AFB, N.C.

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Lisa M. Smith from Wheeler Army Air Field, Hawaii

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Kenneth S. Malawey from Hurlburt Field, Fla.

-- Air Force Weather Staff Officer of the Year: Maj. Juan M. Hidalgo from Offutt AFB, Neb.
 
-- Air Force Weather Staff Enlisted Member of the Year: Master Sgt. Brady L. Armistead from Hurlburt Field, Fla.

-- Air Force Weather Staff Civilian of the Year: Mr. John S. Galliano from Hickam AFB, Hawaii

-- Air Reserve Component Weather Officer of the Year: 1st Lt. Julia M. Coppola from Langley AFB, Va.

-- Air Reserve Component Weather Enlisted Member of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Mark R. Gilley from Nashville International Airport, Tenn.

-- Outstanding Technical Achievement in Weather Operations: Capt. Paul Lucas, Capt. William Ryerson, Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Federico; Master Sgt. Anthony Soots, Master Sgt. Allan Brandt, Tech. Sgt. Jeffrey Wisner, Mr. Shane Castle, Mr. Daniel Brees, Mr. Peter Copesky, and Mr. Richard Korich.

Organizational Award Winners Are:

-- Outstanding Operational Weather Squadron: 28th Operation Weather Squadron, Shaw AFB, S.C.

-- Outstanding Battlefield Weather Squadron: 3rd Weather Squadron, Fort Hood, Texas

-- Outstanding Specialized Weather Support Unit: 51st Combat Communications Squadron, Robins AFB, Ga.

-- Outstanding Air Force Weather Organization (Below Squadron Level): 25th Air Support Operations Squadron/Director of Weather, Wheeler AAF, Hawaii

-- Outstanding Air Reserve Component Weather Flight: 116th Weather Flight, McChord AFB, Wash.
