Air Force officials announce 2008 weather awards

WASHINGTON (AFPN) --  Air Force officials have released the 2008 Air Force Weather Awards.

Military recipients of individual or team awards are entitled to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon, and civilian recipients of individual and team awards are entitled to wear the Air Force Recognition Lapel Pin.

The Air Force Recognition Ribbon program does not apply to organizational awards.

Individual award winners are:

-- Air Force Weather Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Brian W. Kabat of Fort Campbell AIN, Ky.

-- Air Force Weather Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. William R. Ryerson from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

-- Air Reserve Component Weather Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Christopher T. Higgins of Scott AFB, Ill.

-- Air Force Weather Civilian of the Year: Mr. Richard D. Zentz from Patrick AFB, Fla.

-- Air Force Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Wesley G. Fillmore of Sembach AB, Germany.

-- Air Reserve Component Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Paul F. Montas from Langley AFB, Va.

-- Air Force Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. James P. Bauman of Offutt AFB, Neb.

-- Air Reserve Component Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Thomas J. Mahan from Camp Blanding, Fla.

-- Air Force Weather Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Bradley T. Martin of Shaw AFB, S.C.

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Jonathan D. Sawtelle from Fort Bragg, N.C.

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Shane R. Wagner of Fort Bragg, N.C.

-- Air Reserve Component Battlefield Weather Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. David J. Ward from St. Paul, Minn.

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Staff Sgt. Daniel J. Mike of Illesheim AIN, Germany

-- Air Reserve Component Battlefield Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Christopher Drye from Camp Mabry, Texas

-- Air Force Battlefield Weather Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Joshua S. Leggitt of Camp Humphreys AIN, Korea

-- Air Force Weather Staff Officer of the Year: Maj. Robert A. Stenger from Offutt AFB, Neb.

-- Air Force Weather Staff Enlisted Member of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Stephen W. Dombek of Hickam AFB, Hawaii

-- Air Force Weather Staff Civilian of the Year: Mr. Ronald S. Kommer from Langley AFB, Va.

-- Outstanding Technical Achievement in Weather Operations: Capt. David J. King, Master Sgt. Kurt R. Rohl, Staff Sgt. Ryan Adkinson and Staff Sgt. Jennifer Williamson.

Organizational Award Winners Are:

-- Outstanding Air Force Weather Organization (Below Squadron Level): 100th Operations Support Squadron/Director of Weather, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, U.K.
