Colonel ANDREW M. FREY, JR.

Col Andrew M. Frey, Jr., is Commander, 2d Weather Group, 557th Weather Wing, Offutt Air Force Base (AFB), Nebraska. He leads more than 550 active duty, civil service and contract personnel comprised of 6 Squadrons and 8 geographically separated units on 3 continents. The group operates and sustains the Air Force’s $323 million strategic weather enterprise data center and supercomputer, delivering decision-quality, authoritative space and terrestrial environmental intelligence across Department of Defense, the Interagency and International Partners. The fusion of weather, climate and space environmental services provide non-kinetic options to decision makers during planning and operations spanning the national security objectives spectrum.

Col Frey received his commission from the United States Air Force Officer Training School in September 2001. He has served at various weather assignments including squadron-level, Headquarters Air Force, and Combatant Command positions, supporting tactical to strategic missions. He has also served as executive officer, operations officer, and squadron commander, and command center director. Prior to his current position, Col Frey was the Senior Meteorology and Oceanography Officer, NORAD and USNORTHCOM, Peterson SFB, Colo.
